Some jobs to do in the garden

Now is a very good time to take a moment or two and sit in a nice spot in your garden and enjoy a moment of summer! There are a few jobs to be pottering on with as well 🙂

  • Take cuttings of tender perennials such as Salvia.
  • Clear some of your early flowering annuals and biennials to make way for later flowering plants.
  • Deadhead, deadhead, deadhead.
  • Water pots regularly, the rain often will not get to them.
  • Pick posies of annuals mixed with some foliage, it will encourage your plants to keep flowering.
  • Prune back lavender when it looks tired (tie a couple of bunches to hang in the house).
  • Stake tall plants such as Gladioli if you haven’t already.
  • Pinch out side-shoots of tomato plants.
  • Keep picking courgettes!
  • Prune plum trees.
  • Keep raspberry plants tidy and tie in to supports.
