NEPETA. Catmint.
My plant of the week.
I love Nepeta. A hardy perennial. Can be propagated by seed, division or softwood cuttings in Spring or Autumn.
It smells divine in my opinion, flowers for ages and ages and if cut back will flower again. It seems to last for quite a while if cut and popped in a vase and the bees absolutely love it. The leaves and flowers can also be steeped to make tea and it is thought it induces a calming effect amongst other qualities. What’s not to like? Do you have some in your garden?
I am not sure what species I have as I pinched some from my mum’s garden a while ago, she loves it too!
